Cookie Policy
How we use cookies and similar technologies
1. What this policy covers
This Cookie Policy explains the cookies and similar technologies we use on qari.trade and related QARI surfaces, what they do, and how you can manage them. It supplements our Privacy Policy.
2. Our position on cookies
QARI uses cookies and similar storage sparingly and for functional reasons only. We do not use cookies for advertising, cross-site tracking, or behavioural profiling.
We use only:
- Cookies strictly necessary for the Service to function (authentication session)
- Preferences that remember your interface choices (language, display currency)
- Optional, privacy-first analytics (only if you accept)
We do not use:
- Third-party advertising cookies
- Social-media tracking pixels
- Behavioural-targeting profiles
- Cross-site trackers
3. The cookies we use
3.1 Strictly necessary (no consent required)
These are required for the platform to operate and are exempt from consent under ePrivacy rules.
- Authentication session (
sb-*-auth-token): Supabase auth session token stored inlocalStorage. Without this you cannot stay signed in. Cleared on sign-out. First-party, essential. - CSRF protection: short-lived token used to verify form submissions. First-party, session-only.
3.2 Preferences (no consent required)
- Language (
qari_lang): remembers your chosen UI language. Expires after 1 year. - Display currency (
qari_currency): remembers your preferred display currency. Expires after 1 year. - Cookie consent choice (
qari_cookie_consent): remembers whether you accepted or declined non-essential cookies. Expires after 6 months.
3.3 Analytics (optional, only if you consent)
If you accept analytics cookies, we may set one of the following privacy-first tools to understand aggregate product usage:
- Plausible (preferred): cookie-free, GDPR-compliant by design, no personal data collected, no cross-site tracking.
- Google Analytics 4 (only if
GA_MEASUREMENT_IDis configured): aggregate usage stats. IP anonymisation enabled. No advertising signals. You can decline at the consent banner.
None of these are active until you explicitly accept analytics cookies.
4. How to manage cookies
You can control cookies at any time:
- Use the cookie banner that appears on your first visit (Accept, Reject, or Manage Preferences).
- Clear the
qari_cookie_consentvalue in your browser to see the banner again and change your choice. - Block all cookies in your browser settings. Note that the authentication session cookie is essential. Blocking it will prevent you from signing in.
5. Do Not Track
We honour the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal where present. If your browser sends GPC, we treat it as a signal to decline non-essential cookies.
6. Changes to this policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced via the cookie banner and in the dashboard. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the current version.
